Over tweeting can cost you followers!

I learned the hard way that over tweeting to your followers can drive them away especially writers. As part of a competition it was required that we tweet  several times a day over 165 tweets each time. Several of the contestants ending up in twitter jail for violating their tweet rules of so many per hour and so many per day. Today, seeing my followers decreasing again, I made the decision to do it only once per day and only the forty finalist, not everyone. I was glad my book made it to the finals but now feel it is time to move on. I am seven books or more behind in reviewing so expect me to post reviews just about each day next week or as fast as I can read the books then post my review. I do not believe in skimming through the book then throwing together a hasty review. So Talk Back, I'm Listening

WHY DO I BLOG?

I first learned to blog when I found out that it is the writer's job to promote their books. Publisher no longer push them. Now, I blog because I want to stay in touch with the people out on social media that I have become friends with and feel like I need to let them know what is going on in my life. I also blog reviews of books that I have read and get other's feedback on what they thought of the book as well. I have joined several sites and comment on several threads giving my two cents worth even though sometimes it is not even worth that but I comment anyway. I have interviewed several authors on my sites and will continue to do so. I have joined networking blogs, Bloglovin, Bloggers and over sites so feel free to follow me and throw in your two cents on whatever I am blogging about today. I have several blogs but normally use this one and the one on Wordpress to say what is on my mind. My other sites are mainly about a particular book of mine. Marsocial is another site that I can be found on http://marssocial.com/groups/Lightning-Chronicles I try to chat there at least every other day.

Now I ask what do you blog about? You can follow my blogs and I will follow you back if you have a follow button.

An unusual Contest

A lot of authors (Writers) enter contests trying to get their name out and the name of the books trying to find readers also to be able to brag about winning with the hope that everyone would buy their book because it is a winner. I am a finalist in a unique contest where winning is not the most important thing but supporting other writers and making friends is the most important criteria of the contest. It is an International even with writers entering their book excerpts from all over the world. Since it is an international contest in English that was one of the limiting aspects.

What makes this unique is everyone is tweeting and posting on various sites such as Google plus, LinkedIn,  GoodReads, Tumbler, along with Facebook each others excerpts giving world wide publicity to each of the 170 excerpt entries. It has been narrowed down now to the finalist with the winners and twenty runners up being named on February 1, 2014. The contest I am speaking of is on Marsocial.com called the Author of the year contest. The grand winner will have their book made into a movie. So drop by and give a little support to everyone. Here is a copy of my entry tweet, you can drop by and read the whole excerpt if you desire.

Overloading my mind

Reading, reviewing, writing on my book Jody's Dilemma along with watching football playoffs, has my day pretty much booked up besides doing my Honey Do's that my wife insists on me doing. Then on top of all that, my editor and I chatted about Sasha, she said it needs a lot of work to make it ready for publishing. LOL. So goes the life of a writer. Between that and football, I didn't get as much writing done as I had hoped. A scene I needed to write yesterday kept rolling around in my head while I was reading Angels and Aliens for a review. I am about half way through reading, Life II another review I plan to write this week. I post my reviews on this blog, Amazon, Goodreads, and any other site the author wishes including Smashwords.

Last night before I could go to bed, I had to write the scene that kept unfolding in my head. I managed to get half of it down before heading to bed. I don't know about other writers but once a scene starts rolling in my head, it wont let me concentrate on much else until it is written down. I have been known to crawl out of bed at 3:00 am and come in turning on the computer and writing for two or three hours then head back to bed. By the way, how is your week starting off? The Trident and the Resurrection by Vic Broquard

My review of the final book of the Trident Series by Vic Boquard. It has proven to be a challenge to get this far, trying to pick up where I left off since my loss of my sister. I am slowly getting back into the groove.

The Trident and Resurrection by Vic Broquard

Five star review. A copy of this book was given to me by Vic Broquard for an honest review.
The author concludes the Trident Trilogy with a strong final adventure for those that can accept teleportation, Magic, wizards, dragons, demons, devils and other creatures on the same plane, Vic offers up an excellent adventure featuring all of the same characters plus more as they battle the evil doers of the different planes of existence on Earth. The main characters of the Trident series are back!
Jon Brown, the young musician in college that inherits the picture book. A very believable character that the story is told from his POV. You will find this “not very brave young man” does not know how fight with his hands but uses his brain to win battles and save his comrades. Bashful around beautiful females, he finds himself in the presence of two of them, on his travels into these other planes of existence.
Mandy Blackburn, the beautiful Ranger of Reylona, with telepathic powers but not like Jon has. An Amazon warrior that is skilled with a bow and arrow and her sword, joining her strong mental powers. She can change her shape and appearance at will becoming a Pegasus when she wants also.
Alison d’Ambrose, a beautiful young lady with blue eyes and brown hair, also user of magic as a “mage” (spell caster). She captivates Jon’s heart when they team up, the three of them to save everyone.
Darless, the beautiful half human- half demon (Alu-demon) that willingly joined the original trio that appears as a beautiful woman to everyone but has tiny wings and horns on her head in her true form.

Along with a host of others.
The twins, Alison’s older twin brother and sister.
A Devil that changes her ways.
Sir Thomas a paladin dressed in medieval armour
This is just a partial list of all those that join with Jon Brown to right the wrongs of the plane they live in. Read and enjoy the series, I know I did getting caught up in it. Each book of the series is quite long so you will get your money’s worth.

Sasha, A beam of light

My latest book to be published by the end of January, 2014. It is a story of a young woman that gets bewitched as a punishment for leading a rebellion against against an Emperor on a distant planet in another galaxy. Her body is placed in suspended animation, as her spirit is expelled from her home world. While her spirit is floating in space, she meets up with a tiny green devil with wings, that provide her with a tiny sail craft to travel between planets. She, along with his aid, learns to assume the body of a living thing or person that just died, bringing it back to life and repairing it. She becomes a spider, Vampire, a horse, a male medival knight, and lastly a witch. I know you cannot wait to read it and I will provide the links as soon as it is available.

Tomorrow I will post the final review of the Trident series and follow it with other reviews as soon as I finish reading them.

Talk back, I'm Listening! Have a great day.

Unexpected things in life

The sudden unexpected death of my younger sister from natural causes put my world in a tailspin along with me going on the road for the services. I am back now trying to pick up the pieces where I dropped them when I left. Losing someone you were close to just before the holidays does not make for a very good holiday. my sister and I talked just about everyday after my morning walk, so it seems strange sitting down at the computer without talking to her first.

As a author, I join many sites trying to spread the word to all the readers out there and try to interest them in my books but when I joined MARSocial.com I found a unique group. Normally, when you enter a contest like their Author of the Year competition, it is a dog eat dog world where everyone is out to beat out the other writers to claim the top prize. Not in this contest, everyone tweets excerpts from everyone elses' entry to TV channels, followers, radio stations, other social media and newspapers. It is so unique having strangers become friends while helping you out by spreading your brand out to everyone they can. This contest is not about winning but about letting the readers of the world know you are out there. We, Authors are all winners that way. So all you writers out there, drop by and join in, it is a lot of fun and you will make a lot of friends while doing so.

I will catch up on reviews and interviews next week. I know I am behind from not being on my PC for ten days. If I owe you a review, I will try to catch up this weekend and surely by next week's blog!
Talk back, I'm listening!  Have a great new year!
