Just another day?

Yesterday, I was awaiting the word that I had another baby, yes like I said before, writing a book is like having a child. I now have thirteen books out, now I know it is time to slow down and help raise my other children along with growing readers for my books published. I admit Lightning in the Tunnel series was mostly written before I ever had the first one published, so I haven't really written thirteen books in two years. Only really five or should I say four, since Brandi's Nightmare was written even before I wrote the Lightning in the Tunnel series. I don't count re-writes as new books.
When Chronicles of the Marauder went live on Amazon yesterday, I felt great relief and happiness. Now comes the decision on which book to work on next. Planet of the Midnight Mists or the sequel to Chronicles of the Marauder called book two. My wife seems to think writing science fiction I do best, it just shows she is a SiFi fan! So since she is the one that pushed me to Publish, I guess it will be one of those two leaving my western off the stove, not even on the back burner! I might do the sequel to "A Stranger comes Crawling" if the readers so ask. I do have another book ready to be edited and should get it edited in the next couple of months called "Lightning in the Tunnel-Rescue" it is the re-write of Lightning in the Tunnel in the Beginning, the second half portion that I took off the market. Lightning in the Tunnel Begins" replaces the first half of the original book. It will be published when the editing ends.
I am posting another picture of my baby along with links to Kindle!
You can download your copy here. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BM5L606 for only $2.99 for now!
After it gets a few reviews under its belt the price may go up.

Back from Editing!

Only months after Publishing "Brandi's Nightmare" my mystery book. My "Chronicles of the Marauder"  is finally ready to publish. I've decided to go Indie again and publish it on Amazon kindle first. It might be live in a number of hours, when it does, I will post an announcement on Google plus along with tweeting it to all my followers. My tweets automatically go to Facebook and author central.. I wish all my sites could be this easy!  Then in a few days have the print version ready to go to print.
For those of you that do not know that I have been working on this book for a few months, I posted the cover of the book so when you go to order it, you will know what it looks like. I know all you science fiction fans out there have been holding your breaths just waiting on it to be finished!
Besides the human characters you will meet, Neil Armstrong Andrews the main character. You will meet Janice the tough ex-navy commander that is in command of the ship, even though Neil is technically in charge. Events prevent him from directing the crew until she accepts him in the Captain's role.
You will meet Poopa the Alien Doctor that is one of my favorite characters. Sockan, the female Alien that can read minds of any creature she touches, make herself invisible to humans among other talents. They form a formidable team, taking risks and adventures in deep space far from Earth where the Marauder started from. This hopefully will be a two book maybe three, it depends on what kind of trouble they get into in Book II. Life in outer space can be very treacherous.
Once again, I wish to thank Kate the Half-light for her great cover.

Mailbox clutter!

Everyday I start my morning off with a cup of coffee then I look at my emails. Some days it is so crowded that it takes me an hour to go through them because I read almost everyone. Don't get me wrong, I like getting emails because it lets me know that people are out there and some want to share information with me just as I want to share information to them. Some just want to chat, that is good!
Some are trying to sell me this or that. It seems like a lot of people are making money off the Internet. That is good for them, I chose to use the Internet as a means to contact people all over the world and get to know them a little better. I of course have to mention sometime or another about my books. After all, what is a writer without readers. I know most of my contacts are with other writers and they have no desire to read my books but to tell me about their book. That is okay, I listen! We each have to do our part as Indie writers to get the word out about our books, if we don't who will especially those of us that can't afford to pay to have someone else to do it for us. As people slowly get to recognize our name, then someone will mention to someone else they read one of the books and they mention it to another, then we become slightly known instead of just another unknown author.
Those that jump on the Indie Publishing bandwagon expecting to get rich, just remember it happens to a very few of us and that it takes time to get known out here in the Internet world. You have to be the tortoise plugging along unless you have a lot of money to throw out there and put ads everywhere and hope you get good reviews or pay someone to review them so people might buy them quickly but remember one thing! Most authors going this route never make back what they spend to try to sell their books. I read those that are successful at getting notice unless they are selected by Amazon if it is an ebook to be featured your sales will be modest at the best. But remember, there is that one in a million chance you might become the next number one seller so just hang in there and keep writing!
So here is today's plug! A mystery book that is written by a snake with so many twists and twists along with who knows how many who did suspects that keeps you in suspense check out "Brandi's Nightmare" http://www.amazon.com/dp/1482069747 or for just the ebook on kindle check out at http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B50XLFU for all those mystery/suspense readers out there!      Talk back to me, I'm Listening!

Wishful Thinking

Yesterday, I went through setting up my author sites on Amazon in Germany, France and United Kingdom, I found it was a little difficult in Germany and France to get all my books added to my author's site but emails from them this morning showed me how and that my books were listed on the sites there. I just have to return to to my author's page and get them added. Japan is a different story. The don't list English books on their site. They may add them in the future but right now it is only Japanese books. The most difficult thing I found in building an author platform worldwide is realizing that everyone does things a little different than what I am used to and there are not that many that read the English language in some countries, so I don't expect a huge amount of sales. Reaching a handful around the world will make me happy. Thank goodness for the translation key, it helps me to understand them especially the tweets and comments. Touching one person in every country on tweeter makes my day. Does it make yours or do you ignore those overseas because you don't expect them to buy your book?
My voice card must have went out on my computer so I can't use Skype or Google hangouts or even Utube to chat or record a video. I bought a new microphone thinking that is the problem but all that anyone hears is static. I have not started my blogtalk radio program because of that. I guess I am going to have to drop that from my list of new avenues to build my author platform and get the word out. When mechanical things don't work, that tends to frustrate me easily.  So goes life!

Trying to hard!

Ever try to make a relationship work when you know there is no chance it will? But you just can not give up because your heart won't let you! Try, try and try again until finally after shedding tons of tears and become angry at life, you step away because they really don't want you or they have someone else they really want to spend their life with! I spent eighteen happy years married to Lisa (Alicia) but then she became distant and sought someone else. Her answer was she had dreams when she was younger of doing this and doing that but not what she was doing with me. So after a few million tears I shed, I let her go and for a couple of years I struggled to keep my life together being very successful at work, I concentrated on that thinking I would never find happiness again. Life sometimes finds a way to work things out. I met the most wonderful person by accident being frustrated trying to get my Internet to work. I decided to go have a drink at a local bar. I hadn't drank during my eighteen years of marriage (It ended at twenty) until she left. I guess I started to drink to cope with the pain. Anyway, I met the love of my life that day but didn't know it. Her rocky marriage was falling apart and we just talked. Soon, we were meeting at that bar on a regular basis. We became good friends (she is now my best friend) and we started dating. A year after we met, I asked her to marry me and she did! So my message to everyone is when your world falls apart and the heartaches happen. Take Heart there might just be someone out there that will put your world back together and make you happier than you have ever been! I know my wife will most likely read this knowing how much we love each other and how happy she has made me. I don't know why I felt like writing this, this morning but I did. Maybe, I wrote this because I was wondering how many people are out there in a losing relationship that should just let go and find happiness!
Maybe I wrote this because my best friend and wife pushed me to actually publish my books that I wrote over the years but never bothered to publish. I knew I enjoyed writing but it was more of a stress reliever than to actually get published. Now, I can't stop writing and publishing after discovering others out there enjoyed my books so much and are looking forward to the next one. I will write and publish the last of the Lightning in the Tunnel series later this year. I have been side tracked writing other books and having written the final chapters yet of Lightning Rages.

Won't leave you hanging!

After the response I received when I asked the question on whether or not to leave the reader hanging, I have decided to add another chapter or so to the book so they are not left hanging in "Chronicles of the Marauder" because I agree. No one wants to wait until the next book to see what happens even in a series when it effects the plot. Thanks to those that responded especially Susan, she made a lot of sense. I thought about it thinking that if I left them hanging they would want to get the next book in the series to find out what happened but then like the response said, they would be disappointed in the book and may not want to buy the next one because they would be afraid it would also leave them hanging. Enough said!
How is your day going, mine got off to a slow start after practicing guitar lessons again last night. I am taking these lessons so I will be able to play while my wife sings, she has a great voice and my goal is to get her recorded once we become good enough writing our own songs. I think we are about a year away from being able to say we are fair players. Me, I'm further away than she is! The fingers don't work on the guitar strings as well as they do on the keyboard of this computer. Ha! Ha!
Writing good books takes time and I see the difference between my earlier books and those I write now, every author has to evolve and my evolution has come slowly with each new book I write. My first books had a lot of sex scenes in them because when I wrote them, the belief was Sex Sales but I was wrong in that aspect because everyone talked about the sex in them not about the story. I rewrote the first book I wrote and because of the improvements in it, I had to make it two books, the first revised "Lightning in the Tunnel Begins" has been concluded even though I went back and revised it twice more even after it was published. The second part of the first book is called "Lightning in the Tunnel-Rescue" is about finished revising but still has to be edited then I will publish it. This fills the gap between "Begins" and Zigzagging Home my book by a different publisher that after my contract ends, I might re-write as well, who knows? That is five years from now!
If you want to start reading the series this one is available on Amazon both ebook (99 cents) and paperback as well at this link. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009EAWB2M for those that want to get into it. Leave them hanging or not?

To leave them hanging or not is always an author's question when writing a series. I have reached that part in the "Chronicles of the Marauder" that I ask myself is this a good point to stop book one.
Some readers don't like to be left hanging because they don't want to find out what happens witting on the book to be written, edited, published to find the answer. Yet, it is a good hook to make them want the next book in the series to find out what happens next. What do you think?
I have been so involved writing the Chronicles of the Marauder that my blogging and other things have suffered. Now, that I am at a point of whether to write more or stop here, I will send it to the editor and see what she thinks. Just want to know what you think!
Now, my thoughts are back on Brandi's Nightmare I wonder what I can do to improve the exposure of this book to more people. I have done more for it than my other book "T.T. Gristman-Time traveler"  except make it free today on Kindle as my Valentine's Day gift to the readers. You can get your free copy until midnight tonight your time at this link http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009E9DQZE because it has a love story embedded in it.
I hope all those pure hearts out there had their wished come true. My wish came true thirteen years ago when I married my wife. She is my everthing including my best friend, that is what makes a good Valintine, true love.

late night edition

Normally, I do this early in the day but today I got so busy on my new book "Chronicles of the Marauder" that I just about forgot. It has been a couple of days since I last wrote something on this blog even though I did write a couple of blogs late last night on my other blog sights.Today is a cold cloudy, raining day, what better way to spend than reading or writing. I chose to write being so deeply involved in writing the Chronicles. I am so close to the end of the story and want to have it finished by the end of the month so it can be edited. Sometimes, if you noticed that I need an editor for this post as well. I need to proof read my blogs more closely since some times I hit the key and it doesn't put it on the page. It still is a word that spell check doesn't find but it doesn't make sense using that word in the sentence where I screwed up!
Anyone needing a good book to read can go to my author site on Amazon to see all of them even though I am going to recommend a couple at the end of the blog for them. Maybe you want something different go to

Drawing a blank!

Normally, I have a lot I can write about but my mind is stuck on my newer book I'm still writing called "Chronicles of the Marauder" yet I still want to get the word out on my mystery book "Brandi's Nightmare" because I believe this is one mystery book that you don't know who the killer (s) are until the end! Those that have read it are shocked because they had no clue in the story how the mystery would end. This book keeps you turning the pages as events unfold and doesn't allow you to put it down. If I may say so myself, I was surprised myself!
My new book, "Chronicles of the Marauder" doesn't have the same action  scenes of "Brandi's Nightmare" but it does keep you reading taking you to new worlds, different species and allows you to learn the characters of these different aliens. Enough said about that book. I don't want to give away too much of the story.
I won't keep you reading today but will give you the link to Brandi's Nightmare available both as ebook on Kindle and paperback as well. get your copy and enjoy. Http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B50XLFU
For those into time travel and romance, my time travel ebook "T.T. Gristman" will be available for free downloads on Valentine's Day since it is a love story as well. Check it out.

Having a baby?

Writing a book is almost like having a baby because it is a baby to the author. They nurse to life and tries to set it on the right path after it is published. Whether you are a male or female, it makes no difference, you gave it life and now have to raise it up to its full potential. Like any proud father, I had to announce to the World that my book "Chronicles of the Marauder" was due to be born in a few months. Nursing it through the editing process will take the longest once I've finished writing it. I am close, maybe fifty or sixty more pages of 8 X 10 size then I will conclude it. Since I intend on it being a series at this point in its young life, I don't want to make it too long. LOL! I guess I will keep writing to where I find a good spot to stop and pick it up from there. Note here to the left, like any proud father I enclosed a picture of my baby.
What do you think of the cover? I especially like the words from A.G. Moye signalling  I had a part in its creation!

Keeping your head above water

Ever since I chose to dive into the publishing business, I found it difficult to keep my head above water with the pool being so crowded with others trying to do the same thing. I tried to float but found I kept getting my head pushed under the water by a publisher that I thought was Traditional Publisher but it wasn't. Now, I have become an Indie writer it is even more difficult to tread water and stay afloat. With a crowded pool everyone is grabbing onto something to keep themselves afloat. Some try riding on other coattails, some strike out for the deep end hoping no one else was there so they can stand out. That is the most difficult thing, Getting your head above the crowd for the reader to find. Yet, more keep jumping into the pool or bailing out the water. I have twelve books published and as yet no one has really seen my splash. I see others with thirty to forty books published and wonder what it took to get their splash noticed. I will keep treading water in the deep in by going out of my started genre with the just published "T.T. Gristman" Time traveler story and "Brandi's Nightmare" just released last month. It is my mystery book. My first SiFi "A Stranger Comes Crawling" has been out for a few months but the pool sure is crowded with all the SiFi writers. I like writing SiFi because it allows my imagination to come up with all these different creatures and personalities. That is why I am writing "Chronicles of the Marauder" and "Planet of the Midnight Mist" it is my personal favorite genre when I was younger and still is. My western called, Saddle Spurs is sitting on the back burner. I am not yet ready to throw it into the pool. I am pondering or started writing sequels to "A Stranger Comes Crawling" and Brandi's Nightmare but they are just thoughts left over from the first book. I put them in a file to come back to later when I finish "Chronicles of the Marauder".
Anyway, I have my awesome cover of the "Chronicles of the Marauder" so when I finish writing and  having it edited I can publish it.  I just wanted to share it one more time.

Hocus-Pocus

A good title for this blog. What I'm speaking of is those followers that un-follow you after you follow them. I went through my twitter account and removed from my following list all those that un-followed me. There was quite a number of them. I follow back anyone that follows me out of courtesy feeling that is right. What I noticed was most of those that un-followed me were people trying to get you to buy their services and when you didn't they dropped you. That is okay with me, I don't un-follow someone just because they didn't buy one of my books. I would have very few to follow if that was the case. LOL! This is a social media where people make contacts with people even the 160 word limit still allows some connection about what you are doing and what is on your mind. I read where the majority of your followers never see your tweet because they are not viewing the twitter at that time. That is a sobering fact understanding how the system works. Re-tweets help you connect to others that are not normally following you, that helps a lot! We all want to connect with other human beings, I have followers in Russia, Germany, Finland, Italy, China, Korea, New Zealand, Australia, Norway, Israel, Turkey, Great Britain, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Peru. India, Thailand, Barbados, as well as in the USA.  I'm sure I forgot a few countries but what I'm seeing is the desire to connect. Since I don't speak any foreign language, I use the Translator on Twitter, Google and other sites to help me along.
Connections is what social media is all about that is why I have joined various groups on the Internet, to make connections all over this world. After all, we are all human and need the personal contact that is important for an author or anyone else that might be trying to make themselves known. It is like an actress or actor trying to get discovered by Hollywood. It takes a lot of work and effort to make it happen.
Now to mention what I'm doing. Chronicles of the Marauder is about three quarters finished and my awesome cover designer, Kate the Half-Light has made me five of them and I selected the second on so watch out I will be blogging on that soon just to introduce it to the world. My wife is pushing me to stop writing it and go back and rewrite the second book in my Lightning in the Tunnel series  called "Lightning in the Tunnel Rescue" it became necessary when I pulled my first book from the market called "Lightning in the Tunnel, In the Beginning" because it contained to much sex and no one really read the story. I took almost all the sex scenes out of the two books that replaced the "In the Beginning" . The first one is called, Lightning in the Tunnel Begins" it is out now on Amazon and paperback. So she says that unless I finish "Lightning in the Tunnel Rescue" there will be a gap between Begins and Zigzagging Home that the reader will not understand in the flow of the saga. I agree with her so I will switch my focus from Chronicles to Rescue! But I couldn't resist giving you a sneak peek at my cover that I have selected for Chronicles.
I like this the best, What do you think? Talk back to me, I'm listening!

Time flies!

It is hard to believe that it was just the other day when we were saying Happy New Year and now we are already in February. It seems like the older you get, the quicker the passing of time. I recall when I was a child that time seemed to pass so slow. Now, as I have gotten older, it seems like the weeks fly by not just the days. Do you feel the same way?  I used to hear "that time flies when you are having fun!" now it seems that time flies when you are just living each day. Are you having fun?
Now back to what I do everyday. I write a little in my next book "Chronicles of the Marauder" when I'm not blogging or reading other people's blogs. Joining in several discussions in Linkened Writer's groups takes up a lot of time but I want to see what others are doing and help out any other Indie Writer that I can using what I have learned being a writer. I try to help each one get their book on the best seller list just as I want my books on the list as well. I know not everyone can write a best seller but everyone can hope that it finds enough readers to make it all worthwhile.
Brandi's Nightmare, my first mystery book is hopefully being reviewed and I look forward to the reader's reactions to my books. Everyone hopes for five stars but I'm realistic, not everyone will find the book enjoyable even though most will enjoy the twists and turns in the story along with the action. I probably made a few minor grammar mistakes according to the English teachers out there but it is my style of writing. The everyday speech of us Americans without the cuss words, because I don't believe my characters need to cuss to get their point across.
I am offering free one of the Lightning in the Tunnel Series on Kindle on Saturday, February 2,2013. Feel free to download it and give it a review. I noticed on Amazon it has not been reviewed yet even though it has been downloaded before. I am speaking of "A Need for Lightning" part of the series! You don't have to read the entire series to enjoy this book but it would give you background on where the characters are coming from or how they got to this point. Still I think it is a good story that you will enjoy!
